Men of Emanuel (MOE) is a club open to all  men in the Temple Emanuel community. MOE does not collect dues and considers all men who are members of Temple Emanuel to be members of Men of Emanuel.

We automatically add newly enrolled Temple members to our email list, and you are free to opt-in or opt-out.

MOE offers social events and activities including community-wide breakfasts and online fantasy football leagues, fundraising activities such as our Chanukah raffle, and Temple support activities, such as set-up and take-down of the Temple Sukkah.

Who we are...

We are just a group of nice guys who enjoy good times together and help out Temple Emanuel of Tempe in many ways.

We started in 2007 with the idea that we should make membership as easy and enjoyable as possible. That’s why we focus on providing activities that men of the Temple can enjoy together and why we charge no dues.  If you are a man and a member of Temple Emanuel, we already consider you a member of MOE.

You decide whether to participate by signing up for or opting out of our mailing list.  Click here to be added to MOE’s mailing list.

What we do...

We have done everything from going to baseball games as a group to enjoying an afternoon at a shooting range or meeting at the local pub to catch a football game.  We’ve bowled, golfed, and have been known to hold the occasional Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament.

We are up for anything that we can do together and we’re always looking for new ideas and people who can make things happen!

How we help...

From schlepping for High Holiday services to cleaning up the Temple grounds and subbing for custodial staff on their religious holidays to setting up a basketball hoop for the kids, MOE members have been there to help.

We also do the following on a regular basis when the Temple is open:

●Every Sunday that religious school is in session and the Temple lobby is open, MOE runs Cafe Emanuel, selling bagels, coffee, and other breakfast-type fares to benefit Jewish camp scholarships for Temple kids.

●Along with Temple Emanuel Sisterhood, MOE provides Kiddush cups as gifts to our b'nai mitzvah kids.

●MOE donates and grills food for the Temple Purim Festival.

●MOE coordinates three blood drives at the Temple each year.

Something to look forward to...

MOE’s Annual Bob Kuvent Memorial Monday Night Football Game

Join Men of Emanuel when we celebrate the late Bob Kuvent, a former MOE board member who helped put together our MOE Schmoozes and other social events for years.

Bob was a passionate New England Patriots fan, so in his memory we gather on a night when the Pats are playing on Monday Night Football. No matter how you feel about the Patriots, it’s time to join with other men from our Temple community for an evening of camaraderie.

This is not a men’s-only event, we encourage couples to come and have fun.

We will pass the hat for a donation to one of the Temple’s special funds in Bob’s honor.

What: New England Patriots vs. the Buffalo Bills

When: 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6. (Game time is 6:15.)

Where: Bogeys Sports Bar & Grill, 6463 S. Rural Road, Tempe (at the southeast corner of Guadalupe and Rural)

Monday, December 13th beginning at 6 pm

MOE’S Monday night football with the cardinals

Who knew the Bird Crew would lead the NFL halfway through the season? If you haven’t got tickets for the Cards game in Glendale, join Men of Emanuel for the next-best thing, a game watch party with men from our Temple community. Men’s-only event.

If you’re a male Temple Emanuel member 21 or older, you’re already a member of MOE, so come on out!
