Sensology: A Cultural History of the Senses and Social Bias

Thursday, May 1, 2025 3 Iyar 5785

6:30 PM - 7:45 PM

Sensology: In this class we will take a look at a new type of critical theory which understands the human senses as cultural constructions and not a matter of biology or physiology. If the senses are part of culture, they have a history, which we will follow by focusing on the sense of smell and how it has been used to marginalize certain groups of people, including Jews.
